Farnborough Town Centre Regeneration

Transforming the urban landscape...

The regeneration of Farnborough town centre is an £80m mixed use development project that will include 190,000 sq. ft. retail space, a 77 bedroom Travelodge hotel, 142 apartments together with bars, restaurants and other leisure facilities. Power On Connections was commissioned to provide the electricity infrastructure, which had a combined connection capacity of 5MVA and incorporated three distribution substations, a bulk LV supply ACB substation and an HV metered Ring Main Unit feeding the SEC customer owned transformer used to power the 62,000 sq. ft. Sainsbury’s store. All works involved negotiating a 4km, dual HV circuit, off-site cable route via the highway passing through heavily engineered disused air strips and a directional drill into a primary substation.

The phased regeneration of Farnborough town centre is a complex project across a 14 acre development site. The electrical infrastructure had to supply numerous different individual elements, each with their own challenges. Power On Connections offered pragmatic and logical solutions in every instance and remained entirely flexible to the changing requirements of a busy construction site.
