In April 2013, the UK’s leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP), Power On Connections passed a historic milestone in the capacity of electricity infrastructure it installed.
Power On Connections, which has ten offices across the UK, passed the 1GW (gigawatt) of contracted load; the equivalent of 1000 megawatts or enough electricity to power approximately 800,000 homes. The Power On Connections team had been tallying this figure since inception in 2003 and completed over 2,000 projects to reach this total, including work at the 112 acre ProLogis Park at Pineham, Northampton and the prestigious Kings Cross Station redevelopment in London.
Bob Theobald, Managing Director at Power On Connections said: “Exceeding the 1GW milestone is significant not just for Power On Connections own record books but also for the wider industry, as we believe we are the first ICP to achieve this figure. This provides a huge boost for our continual campaign to increase competition in connections and readdress some of the imbalances in the electricity market".
“Amassing this figure reinforces our position as the UK’s leading ICP and serves as an excellent testament to the quality of work and reliability of service we regularly deliver for clients. It is also our 10th anniversary this year so it’s perfect timing to both reach and celebrate this milestone!”
Power On Connections specialises in the design, build and delivery of new High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electricity infrastructure for commercial, industrial, retail and high rise developments. In the past 12 months, the company has increased its team by 25%, its turnover by 32% and has become the first ICP in the UK to be accredited by Lloyds Register for 11kV operational work associated with Self-Connection. Earlier this year, the company was recognised as a finalist in the Construction News Specialist Awards.
