School/College Leavers Design Engineering Traineeship
Over a four year period our trainees learn all parts of the Power On business with the goal of becoming a fully qualified Design Engineer at the end of their training.
This is an exciting opportunity for capable school/college leavers aged 18 and over who do not wish to attend university, but who wish for a vocational career path, where they can develop their skills whilst working for a thriving market leading Company. Ultimately, this programme provides individuals with employment and an excellent career path.
Trainees spend the first two years of their employment working at the head office in Leicester learning about all aspects of the business from the request for a quotation through to the construction and adoption of the network. This is achieved through rotation and assessment of each of our departments and individuals spend their time working with our teams in Sales, Tendering, Design, Health and Safety, Construction and Business Support. During this time the key area of development is in the design activity. Following the two year programme the trainee has the opportunity to take a position as an Assistant in the Design Team. For the next two years they can further develop their design skills to become a Design Engineer.
The training is mainly based at our head office in Leicester. However, trainees need to be flexible to travel to all offices in the group to complete their training. Once candidates become qualified Design Engineers they are expected to fulfil full-time roles in the Leicester office or in the South East at our office in Childerditch, Essex.
Power On Connections will commit to provide trainees with a full training programme and qualifications over at least a two year period with the opportunity to extend for a further two years in order for them to become a qualified Engineer. We will pay a competitive salary which will increase incrementally as they progress through the training. There may be further opportunities for the trainee to move into construction if they show a particular interest or aptitude in this area.
Individuals have the opportunity to work towards an electrical power distribution engineering qualification and trainees are expected to maintain a record of experience throughout their employment for this purpose.
