Certain elements of the work required for any
new connection are defined as non-contestable. Such works must be carried out
by the utility and typically include the final cable jointing onto the
existing network, wayleaves and easements, and sometimes scheme design. OFGEM have imposed strict guidelines on the
industry defining acceptable lead times for the issuing of quotations for
non-contestable work by the utilities. When met, these timescales should mean
that you have the information you need in plenty of time for your connection
project. However, every utility has its own published
rules and procedures for this process which make it difficult in practice to
obtain a quotation in a short period of time unless you are very familiar
with the utilities particular process. Power On maintains controlled copies of every
utilities rules and procedures and can ensure that unnecessary delays arising
from procedural mistakes in applications are avoided and quotations obtained
in the shortest possible time. Once received, we will then evaluate the
quotation to ensure it is complete, meets all the requirements of the
regulations and that the price is justifiable for the work required. Where we
believe the price is excessive, we will challenge the utility directly to
adjust the quotation including referral to Ofgem where necessary. |
